The purpose of this website is to provide relevant activities that bring math standards to life. My name is Renee Gibert and I have taught math for over 16 years in public schools. My lessons have always infused a mix of literacy, current events, and culturally responsive pedagogy. My philosophy is to create engaging classes that answer the question: When will I ever use this and why is it important? One of my students always said that my classes were lit, in terms of it was fun. Lit meant to me infusing the literacy components. Thus, Get Lit Math was formed. The lessons presented are great hooks to a lesson or can be used as closing assignments.
